Green – Color of Life

Green, the Color of Life, is by far the most commonly used form of sorcery, along with Red. While Green governs “life,” it would be more precise to call it “organic life.” Green governs biology, blood, lifeforms, plants, evolution, reproduction, and healing; but also plagues, overgrowth, poisons, savagery, and natural hazards. Green is helpful and dangerous in equal measures.  

Green is one of the common Flux Colors, and found in every area with a strong concentration of living beings, such as forests, jungles, or natural habitats. Strangely though, it is rarer in urban areas, even overpopulated ones; researchers believe that Green Flux is mostly linked to non-sentient life, and thus diminished by civilization (which bolsters Orange). Green Flux is mostly used to enhance agriculture, or for medical purposes.

Its opposing color is Red, while it is allied with Blue, White, and Yellow.

Application of Green sorcery:

— Fleshcrafting

The art of manipulating flesh, Fleshcrafting is as much about medicine as it is about self-modification. Fleshcrafting allows the user, through extensive knowledge of their own body, to turn their bones harder than steel, grow limbs, or refine their body; or to heal the wounds of others. Fleshcrafters are in high demand in medical fields, and have cornered the bio-augmentation market.

— Promethean Alchemy

Promethean Alchemy is a branch of Green dealing with the creation of life, such as creating new breeds of animals through fusions (called chimeras), cloning, or the creation of artificial servants called homunculi. An infamous subdiscipline, Plaguecrafting, deals with creating diseases for biological warfare.

— Petalmancy

Petalmancy is the manipulation of vegetal life or its close cousins, such as fungi or mushrooms. While associated with druids or tribal cultures, petalmancy is very common in interstellar civilization, being especially used to bolster food production.

— Morphing

Morphing is the art of transforming oneself into the shape of another creature by harvesting and then copying their DNA (the soul remains unchanged, although some cognitive functions may be affected), either temporarily or permanently. Advanced morphers aren’t bound by conversation of mass, creating organic components out of raw Flux.

Green Sorcerers

Almost a quarter of sorcerers are Green Sorcerers, due the commonness of Green Flux. Archetypal Green Sorcerers are social individuals, adept at forming communities and surrounding themselves with other lifeforms. Due to their abilities, most are fully integrated into society, working in health or food production. Many tribal societies honor them as shaman, or spiritual guides.

Some antisocial Green Sorcerers, however, shun society at large to surround themselves only with their own creations. Every Green Sorcerer creates life at one point, although their MO is never the same: one Green Sorcerer may surround themself with clones, while a visionary gardener develops their own personal ecosystem.

Green Sorcerers are usually a strange mix of perfectionism and innovation, constantly experimenting with new methods to improve life itself. In fact, Green Sorcerers are incredibly resilient, improving their body to adapt to any hostile situation. It would be a mistake to underestimate their offensive power though; Green magic has fueled more global pandemics than nature itself.

Escalation: Vaingloria: Green Sorcerers mostly escalate through developing a god complex, either considering themselves deities due to their ability to create life, or becoming obsessed with turning themselves into the “perfect lifeform.” Unlike a narcissistic Blue sorcerer, Green Sorcerers prefer to exterminate other people rather than dominate them. That way, they intend to replace natural life with their own, “superior” creations. Genocidal Green Sorcerer have collectively killed more sentient beings across the universe than any other sorcerers; tragically, the worst of them ensure their creations will survive their death, spreading further misery.

The user can heal wounds, whether their own or others, by magically enhancing the body’s healing factor and creating new stem cells. This spell cannot heal damage the body couldn’t recover from naturally, such as a lost head for humans, given enough time and resources.

Secondskin

Activation: Passive, Thought.

The user can create and cover themselves in an alien, symbiotic layer of skin. The Secondskin provides enhanced strength, protection from harm, and a minor healing factor when worn, but the user feels any damage inflicted on it.

Fleshcraft

Activation: Active, Direct Touch Vector.

By touching two flesh-based lifeforms (thus excluding plants or muscle-less beings), including themselves, the sorcerer can forcefully fuse them into a single, hybrid entity. The resulting chimera is a fully functional being, and capable of reproduction with other chimeras of its “kind.”

The user’s physical abilities and physiological processes are supernaturally multiplied beyond the natural limits of their species. In general, the caster’s strength and senses are increased by a factor of ten.

Growth

Affinity: Green

By touching a living being (which can include themselves), be it plant or animal, the caster magically accelerates the growth of organic matter for as long as the contact is maintained. Little exposure is beneficial to the target, such as increase in muscle mass; longer exposure will result in unchecked cancerous growth and death.

Protean

The user can shapeshift into any creature whose DNA they ingested, such as by drinking their blood, nails, or meat. They cannot change their body mass, cannot copy supernatural abilities, and can only affect living beings, but otherwise gain all the benefits of their new form. The caster’s mind isn’t affected by the transformation and they can return to their original shape, or take another one, with a thought.

Clone Factory

The user spits a grey ooze which quickly blooms into a deformed, monstrous clone of the spellcaster; the clone’s mutations always improve its battle prowesses, such as gaining claws or fangs, and they share the original’s memory and intelligence. The clone’s mutations worsen and will cause their death within a week unless regularly repaired and maintained.

Fleshrot

The caster causes organic matter to rot on touch at an accelerated rate, usually in seconds.

Petalmancy

The user gains total control over all plants or vegetal beings within a twenty meters radius of themselves, allowing them to sense the world through their senses, or direct them to attack.

Adaptator

Affinity: Green

The caster’s body automatically adapts to almost any natural environment, such as harsh temperatures, alien oxygen, or even the void of space. They can even adapt to the environment of other planes of existence, but do not adapt to supernatural hazards such as Pandoria’s corrupted atmosphere.
