Violet – Color of Space and Time

Sometimes considered the most powerful of all colors, and the rarest, Violet is the color of space, time and dimensions. Since it governs universal principles, Violet is the color that most blatantly bends the laws of physics; aging objects to dust, binding worlds together, or inducing cosmic events.

Violet Flux is generally found in areas associated with travel, such as crossroads, or highly frequented trade routes. It has also been found on places linked to planetary alignments or the beginning point of an equinox. Violet powers the Gate network covering most interstellar civilizations, alongside most transport infrastructures.

Its allied colors are Blue, Red and White, and it is opposed by Yellow.

Applications of Violet sorcery:

— Clocking

The manipulation of time itself, clocking is about manipulating the “timeline” of tangible matter, instead of the concept of time itself. By altering the timeline, Clocking can slow, accelerate, freeze, or loop items, even people. True, history changing time travel is considered impossible, with all attempts at traveling backward in time ending in tragedy.

— Summoning

Summoning is the art of teleportation, both of oneself and others; by using summoning and vectors, someone can teleport themselves from one place to another, or call entities to their location. This is by far the most common form of Violet sorcery, and easily the backbone of interstellar warfare. However, wise summoners do not call what they can’t put down.

— Spacefolding

The art of manipulating space, spacefolding can be used to alter distance, but its most famous use is in the creation of wormholes, tunnels through space, gates, and even pocket dimensions. While summoning is mostly used for small-scale transportation, spacefolding, by linking areas together, has made interstellar civilization possible.

Violet Sorcerers

Only behind White Sorcerers in rarity, Violet Sorcerers are usually, in spite of their abilities to bind places together, lone wolves. Mostly interested in theoretical concepts rather than people, Violet Sorcerers prefer to ponder on their own place in the universe rather than interact with others. However, their incredible power and practical use for governments make them prime targets for recruiting.

Due to their abilities, Violet Sorcerers have become the backbone of interstellar civilization, facilitating travel, trade, and warfare. Tragically, Violet Sorcerers are very prone to mental illnesses such as schizophrenia or dementia. Because they tend to perceive time differently than normal people (sometimes seeing it as non-linear), they may disconnect from the present and become despondent.

In spite of their frailties, Violet Sorcerers are powerhouses, either alone or with support. Their ability to summon others, including entities stronger than them, make them force multipliers, and the few who develop leadership skills are a force to behold: calling upon an army with a fingersnap. Violet Sorcerers almost always attempt time-travel at one point in their life. All of them fail and the few who persist in their mistakes usually end up escalating.

Escalation: Avaritia: Escalating Violet Sorcerers start focusing on achieving time travel, usually out of a desire to “correct” a past mistake or make up for a lost opportunity. In spite of the overwhelming amount of evidence that this is a fool’s errand, these sorcerers believe they will succeed where everyone else failed. They undergo a maniacal quest to gather all the resources they feel necessary to power their time-travel spell, such as by enslaving populations or attempting to hijack Neurotowers. These tales end in two ways: either they are stopped before they can make their attempt; or they try, failing with devastating consequences for everyone involved.

There is no place for Black.

Dot 1

Switch

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 1
Price: 3-5
Activation: Active, Thought.

Timesense

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 1
Price: 3-5
Activation: Passive, App Switch.

The user gains supernatural awareness of time, being able to tell the current time with perfect accuracy and instantly noticing time magic affecting them.

Urbanstep

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 1
Price: 3-5
Activation: Active, Thought, Physical Sprint.

By making a sprint in a city’s street, the user can teleport to another city if the user has basic understanding of the target location, and if direct line of transport exists between it and the starting point.

Return

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 1
Price: 3-5
Activation: Active, Direct Touch Vector, Thought.

The user can mark one small item and have it teleport in their hand with a thought, as long as it is in the same planetary Sphere.

Pathfinder

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 1
Price: 3-5
Activation: Passive, App Switch.

The user can geolocate any place they have been before with perfect accuracy, becoming a living GPS.

Dot 2

Call

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 2
Price: 6-10
Activation: Active, Voice Vector.

Invites an Outsider from another plane of existence and whose true name the user knows to teleport to their location; the target cannot be located on the user’s plane when the spell is cast. The Outsider instinctively knows who the caller is, can choose to refuse the call, and is under no compulsion to obey any order.

Time Arrow

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 2
Price: 6-10
Activation: Active, Limb Vector.

The user fires a projectile of compressed time-space from one of its limbs’ extremity, such as a fingertip. The projectiles progresses in a straight line, widening space around it until dissipating. The projectile has a range of two hundred feet/sixty meters and the size of the extremity vector, but loses potency with distance. It also pierces through time-manipulation effects, such as time-locks or looping effects.

Reload

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 2
Price: 6-10
Activation: Active, Thought.

The caster reloads his own timeline, replacing themselves with a version up to three seconds before casting the spell. All changes taken during those seconds are thus undone, including the caster’s memory of casting Reload in the first place.

Doorway

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 2
Price: 6-10
Activation: Active, Direct Touch Vector.

The spellcaster marks a conceptual doorway (such as a door, archway, crossroad, or threshold) with a touch; when touching a second conceptual doorway, those two locations are linked, allowing one to teleport to the other by crossing them. Both doorways must be within ten kilometers of each other, and the effect dissipates after three days. WARNING: there is a one-in-five million chance that the person is sent to Pandoria instead of target location.

Bulletstrike

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 2
Price: 6-10
Activation: Active, Thought.

The caster partially de-synchronize their own timeline from the material universe. As such, the caster perceives time and acts slightly faster than the rest of the universe for the spell’s duration (one minute per Account Level for Magik Online users).

Dot 3

Compress

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 3
Price: 9-15
Activation: Active, Thought.

The user can compresses space at any point within a ten meters radius, allowing them to crush anything caught within. The caster decides how much space is compressed, such as one no bigger than a nail, but may be wounded by their own ability if not careful. The caster can only select one point in space to compress at once.

Clockstop

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 3
Price: 9-15
Activation: Active, Direct Touch Vector.

The user freezes a victim or item in time with a touch, trapping them inside a stasis effect. The target seems trapped in a shroud of violet energy, and only Violet or Black Spells may affect them in this state. The paralysis’ duration after contact is broken is equal to the time the original physical contact lasted, and cannot be renewed.

Spaceslash

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 3
Price: 9-15
Activation: Active, Limb Vector.

The user slashes space itself with one of their hands, cutting through almost anything touched; this ability may even diminish the distance between two points in space.

Teleport

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 3
Price: 9-15
Activation: Active, Thought.

By focusing on an area they are familiar with, the spellcaster teleports himself and everyone touching them there, so long as it happens on the same planet. Interplanetary or interplanar distance cannot be overcome. WARNING: failed teleportation may send the caster to Pandoria.

Timeloop

Affinity: Violet
Dot: 3
Price: 9-15
Activation: Active, Direct Touch Vector.

The caster traps a living target, even themselves, or part of their body in a time loop of various duration of which they are aware of, reverting the body to the state during which the spell was first applied. Spells aren’t carried over, and the timeloop’s duration is set between one and ten seconds, as per the caster’s wish; the looping effect will end after this duration. Upon touching the victim, the caster can delay activation of the loop until certain triggers are met.
